Switch Up Accessibility

The ADA was signed into law in 1990. In 2018, the DOJ affirmed that the ADA covers websites: they must be accessible. Wandke Consulting can help ensure your services are accessible to all customers.

Switch Up Accessibility

A Little History

On July 26th, 1990, George H. W. Bush signed the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law. This year marked the 30th anniversary of this Civil Rights document. The ADA was passed with the intent of creating an equal opportunity for people with disabilities by protecting their rights and preventing discrimination in all areas of public life.

On September 25, 2018, the Department of Justice (DOJ) wrote a letter addressing their affirmation that Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) covers websites; all goods, services, and activities provided to the public must be accessible to all consumers. Websites are indeed a service and therefore should be accessible.

The DOJ has furthered their findings and set the precedent with several cases, specifically the suit against Peapod which requires companies to ensure that their websites and mobile applications are accessible to individuals with disabilities, specifically users with limited manual dexterity.

Wandke Consulting is Here for You

Daman Wandke, our Founder and CEO, has a background in IT Accessibility where he has built ten years of experience in both functional and technical Switch testing. He has worked with a range of organizations from local businesses to multinational companies to improve the accessibility of their websites and apps.

Daman has also built a knowledgeable consulting team. Our team has experience improving businesses’ websites and mobile applications to ensure compliance with current technology accessibility regulations. We offer a preliminary audit, free of charge, that indicates the overall number of problems that could arise for a consumer with a disability. We can then work with you to complete a full audit of your website and provide you with a detailed description of the necessary modifications–both Technical and Functional–regarding compliance with switch control. We can then assist your development team with the remediation process.

Wandke Consulting welcomes the opportunity to assist your business in making your technology services more inclusive to people with disabilities.
